National Polar Science Program
Under the patronage of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the National Polar Science Program was initiated in December 2017 as an integral component of the Antarctica Scientific Research and Science Base Project.
Within the program, the "National Polar Sciences Workshop" is organized annually to evaluate the scientific projects and studies conducted by Turkish scientists in the polar regions, as well as the results of scientific expeditions, and to discuss developments in priority areas.
In this context, the First and Second National Polar Sciences Workshops were hosted by Istanbul Technical University on April 12-13, 2017, and September 12-13, 2018, respectively.
The Third National Polar Sciences Workshop was hosted by Middle East Technical University (METU) on September 5-6, 2019. The workshop was open and free for participation to all scientists interested in participating in national polar research. A total of 203 individuals from 64 institutions participated in the workshop.
